SANTA FE, NM (KRQE) – On March 17th New Mexico Bureau of Land Management (NMBLM) has issued two environmental assessments Sale notice for May 2023 Competitive oil and gas lease sales. For the first time, the BLM is applying an increased royalty rate of 16.67% to leases sold in competitive lease sales.
The BLM notice incorporates recommendations made in a Department of the Interior report (DOI) on the federal oil and gas leasing program. For a full DOI report Click here. The notice also includes other reports Government Accountability Office and Congressional Budget Office.
The BLM will offer 45 parcels, totaling 10,123 acres, in Chaves, Eddy, and Lea counties in New Mexico; and Cheyenne County in Kansas. Parcels can be viewed in ten days BLM New Mexico Oil and Gas Webpage. The parcels will be up for sale on May 25, 2023 in an online oil and gas lease sale, and can be accessed here. energynet.com.
